In conversation with: Seasonal
Seasonal brings art, fashion, and graphic design together to celebrate dopamine dressing, a fashion movement aimed at boosting moods. Inspired by the past and hopeful about the future, Seasonal has created a universe where all eras prevail and nostalgia inspires.
Seasonal will teach you how to rock a co-ord set and master the art of mixing and matching prints and vivid colours. Our selection is made for having endless amounts of fun while becoming hopelessly nostalgic. We caught up with the Colombia-based brand to find out more.
VYour designs and prints are loud and edgy. How do you want women to feel when wearing them?
SEASONALThat's a great question and a loaded one! Our designs are, indeed, bold and out there and it is definitely intentional. We want women (and people in general) to dress themselves happily. I'll explain, this past year I have been inspired to create and design under a movement called "dopamine dressing", which basically means our clothes have the power to boost our mood. We want women to dress happily and therefore feel happy. Or the other way around, to dress happy because they're feeling happy! Our main goal is to inspire people to leave their comfort zone when it comes to clothing and to let the clothes match the vivid, colorful, and bold personalities we know they've got! Needless to say, there's nothing wrong with basics, which is why we encourage people to wear our bold pieces with some solids or basics if they're not ready to jump off the color cliff just yet.
VWhat decade inspires your designs the most?
SOur silhouettes are definitely inspired by the 2000's more than any other decade. However, when it comes to prints and color we for sure take inspiration from the '70s, '80s '90s, and '00s! I am constantly inspired by the past but always remain hopeful about the future, and I think there is a lot of inspiration in looking ahead and not just backward as well.

VWe love your matching sets. Why would you recommend co-ord sets to someone who has never worn them before?
SPersonally, I think sets have the power to make us look more put together than any other outfit formula! No matter how crazy the print or color may be, I feel comfortable and confident when I wear a matching set. It just gives a "this was totally intentional" vibe that, even if someone dislikes my outfit, at least i know they'll respect it! Does that make sense? There's also the practicality factor, of course. What's easier than pulling a matching set from your closet, adding some cool accessories, and being good to go? Absolutely nothing!.
"My goal has always been to come up with pieces that are undeniably different so they can stand out both nationally and internationally."
VDo you take a lot of influence from Colombia and its culture where you're based?
SHonestly, the entire business model is meant to be the other way around! I enjoy taking inspiration from international sources and bringing them to our country, to our city. There is a lot of connotation attached to Latin American Fashion and how it's supposed to look a "certain way" because it's "Latin America". Well, my goal has always been to come up with pieces that are undeniably different so they can stand out both nationally and internationally. I never wanted Seasonal to blend in, nor do I intend for it to ever do. That being said, as a creative mind, inspiration can be found anywhere! I'm sure my environment and upbringing have both consciously and unconsciously influenced my designs and the overall feel of the brand.
