De Loreta is a journey through Latin America. The brand is the story of a life in movement — a hybrid existence marked by culture. An anthology of the region’s most magical elements, the brand celebrates the folklore, landscapes and history of Latin America through bold colors and vivid prints. They create flattering, versatile silhouettes with an elevated yet effortless essence that allows the wearer to make each design their own —adding in details of their personal story with every use. Blurring the lines of reality, the prints explore the everyday of their region through the lens of magical realism, while embroidered and beaded details add an extra touch of fantasy.

Like all good stories, the prints can be infinitely retold, precisely because they hold the voices of those who make them. By reworking the same prints into different collections they acknowledge their timeless allure and contribute to a goal of a zero waste production cycle. This action marks the starting point of a path towards sustainability, in which transparency is the guide. Other steps include developing all pieces in the Lima atelier, where they guarantee ethical, fair trade certified conditions for the women and working mothers on the team.

VWhat aspects of Latin American culture do your collections aim to showcase?

DE LORETA We aim to showcase unique aspects from across Latin America from local traditions, festivities, art and culture. Traditions that have been passed from one generation to the next and connect us with our initial origins to make us who we are today.

VWhat inspires your bold and vibrant prints?

DLWe want to create wearable art pieces, garments that tell a story and stand out from the rest. Prints with meaning and history. We get inspiration from the past and how this can be reinterpreted in the present.

VCan you tell us about what goes into the making of your collections and the ethical practices you follow?

DLWe make everything locally. From materials to final product and packaging. Our textiles are all natural textiles. We like to support our local businesses and communities. We work with 3 small workshops headed by women. We ensure their working conditions are ethical and fair.

VThe silhouettes included in the latest collection at Vasquiat are feminine and elegant. Would you also describe them as versatile?

DLYes, versatile is their middle name. We pride ourselves in making dresses that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion, from office to drinks. From school activities to dinner in the city. Our fabrics are very comfortable making you want to be in our dresses all day.
